About an hour's train ride from where we were staying near Kreuzburg, outside of Berlin in the Federal state of Brandenburg is the city Potsdam, known for its Palaces built by Prussian Royalty, and the gardens connecting and surrounding them. To get there, we bought the ticket that provides unlimited transportation throughout Berlin and the surrounding areas. Potsdam is in area C, the outer ring around Berlin.
All of these palaces and gardens are in the same park, which is free to walk through, although entrance to and tours of the palaces aren't.

We only got to see three palaces before the rain ended our trip early. I especially wanted to see Schloss Babelburg and Flatow Tower in the Babelsburg district, but there are many other palaces we missed as well. I think we'll definitely be going back next time we're in Berlin.
